Visit a CEREC Dentist in Flushing, NY After an Accident
As a CEREC dentist in Forest Hills, NY we understand the importance of providing timely dental care. Most of our patients visit us for preventative care, never thinking that they will damage a tooth and need a dental restoration. While this is certainly our goal, it is not realistic and most people do damage a tooth at some point in their lifetime. Our objective is to ensure that when a tooth is damaged, we can save it and prevent further infection or the need to pull the tooth. Typically, we can accomplish this goal, save the tooth, and put our patients back on the road to good oral health. The one challenge we used to face is how long it would take to do so. Now, we can restore a damaged tooth in one visit.
When it happens to you ….
If you have cracked or chipped a tooth in an accident, you are likely feeling immense amounts of discomfort and perhaps some anxiety. Being in an accident, experiencing that trauma and dealing with subsequent injuries is not easy – especially when it comes to your teeth. There is no time during the day where you do not use your teeth. You need them to eat, to speak, to smile, and even air can touch them while breathing. One that is cracked or chipped can cause a major disruption to your life. For convenience sake, it is essential that you have the tooth restored immediately. For health reasons, it is even more important. When you leave a damaged tooth untreated, bacteria can enter the tooth and infect your dental pulp. This can be painful and lead to the need for a future root canal in addition to the restoration. We recommend that you visit us immediately so that the risk of an infection is reduced or eliminated.
When you come in, we will examine your tooth and take x-rays before making a recommendation as to which treatment solution will be the best for you. As a CEREC dentist in Forest Hills, NY, we typically recommend that your tooth be restored with a dental crown. This has always been a durable restorative solution but in the past it came with the inconvenience of time. It would typically take two or three appointments to place a dental crown because the crown itself would need to be created in a dental lab. On the first appointment, impressions would be made, and the tooth prepared before a temporary crown was placed. On the next appointment, the temporary would be removed, and the permanent one bonded in place, after checking to see if it looked perfect. This created an additional inconvenience to our patients that simply wanted their tooth restored and restored immediately. Now, as a CEREC dentist in Forest Hills, NY, we can do exactly that. We take digital images of the mouth and tooth so that our software can create a 3D image of the tooth and blueprint for the crown. Our milling machine can produce the crown while the tooth is being prepared so that the procedure is over in one visit.
If you have been in an accident, do not wait for your restoration when you can visit us today for a complete procedure.
