Get a Dental Crown or Bridge in One Day With CEREC
CEREC is the most efficient way to get your beautiful smile back in a few hours. Many people are hesitant to show their teeth while smiling due to decayed or broken teeth, which can be replaced or changed in a day by CEREC. The acronym stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. It restores your beautiful smile and provides protection for your teeth.
There are so many benefits that can be derived from getting a new crown or bridges. The question is when are they needed? Crowns and bridges can be used together to fill up the gap created by missing teeth. Crowns are typically used to anchor down bridges, or they can be used on their own to restore a damaged tooth. CEREC is becoming increasingly popular with those who are looking to get crowns and bridges since the installation only takes a single visit to the dentist. Traditional installations of crowns or bridges typically require multiple visits.
Reasons you might need a dental crown or bridge
If a tooth is damaged by an accident, a large cavity or an infection, a dental crown can be used to protect the tooth from further damage. In a few hours, a custom-made crown can be made with CEREC to protect the tooth and restore its appearance. CEREC technology can also be used to create inlays (which are used to fill in the cavities in the center of teeth) and onlays (which extend to cover a tooth's biting surfaces).
Also, a missing tooth can be replaced with a dental bridge, which will also be custom made with the CEREC machine. A dental bridge fills the gap between teeth by using a dental crown that is attached to the existing teeth.
What to expect when getting a dental device made with CEREC
Here is what to expect when getting a dental prosthetic made with CEREC:
- The damaged section of the tooth will be removed
- A highly accurate digital impression and measurements will be made
- A custom prosthetic will be produced using the CEREC machine. This typically takes less than an hour
- The custom prosthetic will be carefully installed
The process is very similar when getting a bridge:
- The teeth that will be used for anchors will be prepared for a crown
- A digital impression of the patient's mouth will be made
- A bit of enamel will be removed to create room for the dental bridge
- A custom bridge and a pair of crowns are created using CEREC
- The bridge will be connected to the teeth used as anchors. These are called pontics.
It only takes a single visit
There is no such thing as being too busy to have your teeth restored thanks to CEREC. A single trip to the dentist and your smile will be fully restored by the time you walk out. Talk to one of our dentists to learn more about restoring your teeth with dental prosthetics made with CEREC.
